GENERAL CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of the foundation seed stocks manager, performs
independently operations required for production, conditioning, identification
and distribution of breeder and foundation seed stocks.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Calibrates, operates, and maintains specialized equipment for conditioning
seeds: cleaning, grading, treating and packaging.

Operates fork lift and trucks for storing and distributing seed.

Performs field operations such as weeding, detasseling, and roguing. May
operate agricultural machinery for seed production.

Maintains and repairs physical structure and equipment of the plant.
Acts as a crew leader to be responsible for and provide functional
supervision to subordinates at and away from the headquarters.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the calibration, maintenance and operation of conditioning
equipment, agricultural machinery and other vehicles.

Knowledge of seed certification requirements.

Skill to maintain architectural and mechanical repairs on buildings and
equipment.

Ability to lift at least 65 pounds.

Ability to walk in fields eight hours a day.

Ability to climb ladders into and out of 24 foot storage bins,
-
Ability to work under a variety of conditions such as noise, dust, heat
and cold.

Ability to recognize differences in varieties of a specific crop and certain
noxious weeds.

Ability to supervise, train and motivate employees.
CLASS SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Three years experience with seed production and processing or any combination
of post high school education and experience which totals three years.

Possession of a state driver's or commercial license as required.
-
Successful completion of commercial certification tests for application
of pesticides and be eligible for certification as required.
