Mission
The University Child Care Committee will work with Iowa State University faculty, staff, students, and the Ames community to promote affordable, accessible, quality child care. The committee works to educate university constituents about the needs of ISU families.

Philosophy
UCCC believes:

  • Child care services and programs should be provided as an integral part of higher education systems.
  • Campus child care programs provide a variety of models designed to meet the educational and service needs of the institution and community at large.
  • The diversity reflected in our services, programs and beliefs enhance the understanding of issues related to children and families.
  • Campus early childhood education and care services serve as models and set standards for the larger community regarding affordable, accessible, and quality care for children.

Statement of Purpose
In order to fulfill its mission and philosophy, UCCC is committed to:

  • Advocate for exemplary, accessible, affordable, quality child care services and facilities to meet the diverse needs of the ISU community.
  • Promote the establishment, maintenance and, when appropriate, the expansion of high quality early childhood education and care programs to enable parents to further their education and be gainfully employed.
  • Advocate for additional recurrent and reliable funding in order to provide accessible, affordable, quality child care facilities and services for the ISU community.
  • Foster awareness and appreciation for the diverse needs of children and families through education and public awareness in the ISU community.
